Proclaim the Word of God

July 30, 2010
We are finally planting our roots in our new parish, St. Paul the Apostle. Yesterday (Friday) was Chloe's first time being lecture. She did a wonderful job of proclaiming the word of God. She will be doing the readings on Friday's. Father Vincent made it very special as he related how Jesus at the age of twelve was proclaiming "the word" in the temple to the elders. He also made mention that Chloe was home schooled.

Praise and Glory to You, Almighty God
Our children are so precious. They are the future leaders of Christ church and our country. They will be saddled with all the damages we see taking place today. From the oil spill, the current government and the persecution of our pope, the church, and our faith. Be vigilant and arm them with good catechises. Father Mooney once said "everything is spiritual unless you make it otherwise". He was so very right. In the late evening or early morning when I am reflecting on my day past or the new day to come I think of how I can find God in everything. When we proclaim the Gospels we cross ourselves mind, mouth and heart. We can do this anytime during our day, especially when we find ourselves tempted. Our Lord, be in my mind and the things I think, in my mouth and the words I say, in my heart to control my actions and feelings, to relieve me of these temptations. My little Mary likes to make the cross on her ears and eyes and says "be in my ears and the things I hear and in my eyes and the things I see". The wisdom of a child. She is soooo right.

The responsorial Psalm
"Lord in Your great love, answer me."
These pictures were taken after Mass. I did not want to distract her during the readings. It brings me great joy to see my children taking an active role in The Mass. We made it to daily Mass three times this week :) I have not been able to make daily Mass as often as I would like these days. Today was a reminder that I must try harder. I have promised our Lord that I would faithfully bring my children (and myself) to Him. I have had many obstacles or excuses keep me from daily Mass. Now a fresh school year with a new calendar and schedule will begin. I have decided I won't work Mass in. Rather, I will work everything around Mass. We say, God first, now we must live God first. It was so easy to neglect our devotions when we moved. Then it was hard to pick ourselves up and go in the middle of the day. Perhaps God is calling us to rise above our schedule and follow His.
Chloe is obviously comfortable proclaiming God's Word.
It is my hope she always feels this comfortable.
THANKS BE TO GOD!
