View from my kitchen window at 7:00 a.m. There were about 8 that I could see and count. This was taken through the glass . They are so pretty and quiet. We have a herd of about 16 or so with a few bucks that graze in our front yard. Know that the hunting dog is no longer living here the deer are back in full fur. Thanks be to God!
We have been busy these past few weeks with lots of good stuff. After the DC trip....which I have not finished posted about, we had company again. A dear friend and her six children came to visit for a few short days. We packed in lots of memories. Patrick is still recovering from ear and sinus infection. Mary turned up with a sore throat and cough for a few days as well. Sometimes being sick brings us closer as we tend to serve up extra hugs and quiet time. Sweet little Mary was isolated for a full day while our company was here. I felt like she was neglected but she says she was just fine in mommies bed with coloring books, Old Yeller, and I occasionally let her play on my lap top.
Next on the agenda is the Christmas play. We had our first practice this evening and it looks like we will have a great cast. I still need to recruit a few bigger boys, but I think we can manage. Sometimes I wonder "what was I thinking" when I take on these challenges. My goal is to bring the children to Christ, to know, love and serve Him above all. Along the way, I hope to grow in holiness. These challenges become opportunities. I always find myself learning about my faith when I try to teach the children. I don't know all the answers to their questions so I go on an answer expedition. Lord, help me to be your voice when I am working with the children. Help me to fill them with Your Word.
So as we prepare for the colder temperatures and more indoor time, let us not forget to keep the word of God, our bible close by. Snuggle up with the little ones and read the gospel or better still, have them read it to you. I am constantly amazed at how scripture comes up in our daily talks. Mary, received a beautiful white first communion bible from her sponsor (Mama Campos) and she has read it cover to cover. She reads her bible every night. It has a place of honor on her bedside table. The Lord is working in her heart.
