Today we will bake lots of cookies and start preparing for the Christmas day feast. We have already been preparing and shopping. All four of my children will be gathered at the table with Rick, myself and my parents. A smaller crowd than most years. We will miss my sister and her family until January. Food is an important part of celebration as the apostles recounts tell us many times in the gospels. Preparations and feasting went on for many days. Remember the poorest of the poor, those who are hungry and thirsty. We emptied our big jar of change and dollars and went shopping on "Food for the Poor". We bought a goat, 200 lbs of beans and rice, two fruit trees, feed a family for a year and feed a child for a year. It was a great experience for the girls. They have some moving pictures to stir the hearts of the little ones, who want, want, want and receive much. I was very proud of them for giving so generously. We do other things to feed the poor as well...this was just a major one that let my girls actually look into the lives of those starving in third world countries. Praise God for the food that nourishes you.
Tonight we will go to the children's Mass and both my daughters will sing in the choir. I love the sound of children's voices lifting the name of Jesus and Mary in praise.
We are expecting a white Christmas here in the mountains. The sleds are ready and so are the children.
