Glory to God! who made heaven and earth.
Outside our front door, the signs of spring are blooming.
Today we are trying to complete our journey wall. This year it is in the kitchen....we spend alot of time in the kitchen as a family. We have a super big island and we have breakfast and lunch in the kitchen, we do some of our school work in the kitchen, it seems to be the general gathering spot. So with that in mind I took down some art work and cleared a wall for our "journey wall". Most everything is cut out and the first few weeks are on the wall. The coloring pages on the wall will be colored on their respective day. The weekdays are brown stone, all the Friday's have a cross and fish to remind us to pray the stations and to fast. Saturday's are blue for Our Lady and Sunday's are white. Below are pictures of the beginning. I will post an update as we finish up today. I'll use my nice camera later, these are from the i-phone. Chloe and Mary are writing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy to place under each stone. I'll do that part later so they don't know what to expect each day. The best is yet to come as we prepare the Holy day stones. Come back later for the final photos. I hope you enjoy our journey and are inspired. We each have our own journals (dollar store...little book) to write our daily personal joys and struggles in. I just had to add a little handwriting exercise into things :-) We will keep these between us and God.
More later! It is coming together!
Tomorrow we will make the crown of thorns with salt dough. We stick lots of tooth picks in it. When we make a sacrifice we secretly pull one out in hopes that by Easter Sunday we have a crown of jewels. I'm sure most of you have heard of this project....not my own idea but a great one. Again, I did not do this one last year....I am trying to remember what we did do last year.....it is a blurr.
Have a blessed day!
In Service to Christ through Mary!
UPDATE on the Journey Wall
All the stones, crosses and fish have been placed. The BIG rock for the tomb will be removed on Resurrection Sunday (Easter) morning.
I found it rather challenging this year. If you notice in the earlier pictures the path is rather easy to follow....hmmm as the days pass the path gets tighter and twists and turns make it difficult to follow. This was not part of the plan, it just happened that way and I noticed that every so often I had to stop, step back, look things over and press on. It is like that in life. I am hoping I can incorporate this into our lesson.
Today at Mass we sang the last Alleluia until the resurrection! So I will leave you today with hopes for a cleansing Lenten season for our family and yours.
P.S. If you have the chance watch "The Family Hearth" with Brother Bob from EWTN this Lenten season with your children. It is a wonderful series. If it is not on you can buy or borrow the DVD's. We have watched it together for several years and each year the girls get something new from it. I am looking forward to it again this year.
ALLELUIA......
