A Mother's Love

Glory to God for early mornings on Agape Acres!

This morning on my way to the barn I was stopped by the beauty of a large herd of deer grazing in the front pasture. When they heard me coming they stopped, thought for a minute then darted off over the pasture fence. The youngest was not so sure about jumping the fence and stopped short and poked around the fencing looking for a way through. She struggled a short while. One of the mature deer (mama I presume) stopped and looked back, when she stopped and looked all the others followed. She ran back to the fence nuzzled noses quickly and jumped back over the fence to take her little one to safety. The rest of the herd followed the wise mama and her youngster. I am so glad God allowed me this glimpse of animalistic love this morning. I am so thankful we are out here on all this land enjoying this glorious landscape of God's design.

After having witnessed this love of a mother for her young I was horrified to read the headlines of a mother shaking her baby to death for interrupting her Farmville time. -SOL- My heart weeps when I read the news. Sometimes I go on spells of not reading the news at all. I just don't want to know. Then there are times when I feel like when I do read these horrific stories Maybe my prayers for the victims and yes, even the abusers and murderers will make a difference.

Super Saturday!

I cooked pancakes and bacon this morning then the girls and I took to the trail. Another great weekend on the Georgia farm.

Chloe on Susie ridding the trail on the back of the property. Mary and I are lagging behind on Jake. Susie was a "pill" today, or as some would say "full of vinegar". It was a beautiful day to smell the fall leaves and listen to them crunch under the hooves of the horses.

Patrick tries feeding fingers to Jake. We are glad to have Jake. If you read about the horse rescue in WV....well jake was there a few months back before we adopted him. Jake is a fat butterball these days and very loved.

Can you see the lipstick stain on Patrick's check? I hardly ever wear lipstick but this day I was. The temperatures here have been wonderful. This week we are expecting highs in the low 70's. Glory to God for the changing seasons. There truly is a time for everything and God has planned so beautifully.

My God is an awesome God! Glory to God for the birds.

Ruby throated humming bird at the back porch. This was taken through the glass....not bad considering the distance and the dirt glass. The humming birds have been very active these last few weeks.

My horse Iago is a 17 hand warmblood. Loads of fun to ride. This is the arena we had built. We are still working on it. It is built into the side of a rolling hill.
This is Chloe and Jake, her newest addition. Jake is a 14 year old Halflinger. He was rescued from the kill pen, sold for his meat. He is receiving lots of attention and food. He has already put on about 75lbs. Although he doesn't know how to canter....we are working on that. We think he was an Amish carriage-plow horse....so lots of walk and trot. He is very sweet and honest.
Jake gets a bath. He loves the water and attention.
Mary on Susie (fat 20 year old) and Chloe on Jake. This has been my dream for many years, to have my kids enjoy riding as much as I do.
